Broker's Comments

The design brief for the Stag 28 was for a shoal draft yacht with good performance that would include a fully fitted cruising interior with well over 6ft of headroom. Peter Milne more than achieved this.

They were built to a high standard with a quality teak and ash interior which gives a warm & comfortable feel and bears the passage of time well. The generous forward cabin offers standing room and good storage. The saloon is well laid out with a roomy dinette to port that converts to a double that can easily accommodate those over 6ft tall. There's a large linear galley to port and, aft of this is a good sized heads compartment, nav station and roomy quarter berth. A useful hanging locker is situated at the bottom of the companionway.

This example has the lines led aft with self tailing winches to allow for easy single handed sailing & the cockpit has really deep and spacious lockers. Apart from the headlining in the fwd cabin requiring a bit of attention and a little gelcoat crazing on the bows, this pretty looking yacht seems to be in good shape. The engine was replaced in 2007 (approx) and the standing rigging was renewed in 2013.

There aren't many of these quality 28 footers about as they were both expensive to make and purchase at a time when other manufacturers were concentrating more on mass production. With a good seagoing reputation and a lifting keel, they are equally at home coastal cruising as they are in shallow inland waters.
