A Dutch barge is a traditional flat-bottomed shoal-draught barge, originally used to carry cargo in the shallow waterways of Netherlands. There were many types of Dutch barges built, the "Tjalk" was the more "heavily built" version with an upright stern that would have originally had a tiller to steer with.
This Tjalk has been converted to a comfortable home and has had several upgrades in the last 18 months:
- New interior designed layout and interiors
- Updated internal and external paint
- Fully functioning kitchen with new appliances: hob, oven, sink & tap, fridge
- Lower living space which can accommodate a double bed if required
- TV connection points installed
- Built in toilet with shower adapter
- Coal/wood burner built in
- Ample storage space with additional space under floor
Flexible design provides everything for a single person or couple looking for a small home or pied a terre for city working. An ideal base for city living or leisure access straight onto the River Severn & surrounding Canal system.
The boat has recently been granted her safety certificate and has had her Mercedes 4 cylinder engine fully overhauled along with work to the hull.
Her current owners are hoping her new owners will enjoy her as much as they have, and make many new memories!
