This version is with the fin keel and aft cockpit with a large bridge deck aft of the companionway. This configuration provides a huge amount of deck space, providing easy access to all parts of the vessel.
The blue deck matting is original but looks like new - very clean and smart.
The topsides of the hull have a lovely shine to them and they have not even been recently polished!
The hull below the water line has been epoxy coated as a preventative measure and is in good condition. This has been confirmed by a recent survey.

Comentario del broker
It was a real pleasure to step aboard this beautifully presented Westerly Discus. She gleams in the sunshine, her decks are sparkling clean and inside her woodwork is well preserved and everything is as it should be. Combine this with a lovely Beta engine, good sails, clean running rigging and loads of navigation equipment making this vessel very hard to fault.
With accommodation for up to seven adults, this vessel could take you offshore cruising, day sailing or weekend escapes.
David Brooke-Smith says "In many ways the Westerly 33 hull was the pinnacle of achievement for Laurent Giles, giving an unbeatable combination of high interior volume and sea keeping ability. I have heard of two of these hulls which have cheerfully survived full Force 12s in deep water, which is an extraordinary achievement by any standard." He goes on to say "Anyone planning a long distance cruise should take a long hard look at a Discus or Westerly 33. In my opinion two of the great classic deep water cruisers."
The current owners make the following comments about this vessel: "We have sailed with friends with young children and have found that the bridge-deck was a safe place for them to sit whilst we were at sea. In addition, we have often used the bridge-deck to spread out charts during a passage. Perhaps the biggest advantage we have found with the bridge-deck has been that it is a really good sitting area at anchor or in a marina, particularly when we have attached the bridge-deck enclosure/tent. The tent has been a good sunshade in sunny weather and has created an extra "room" on the boat even in bad weather. Westerly actually took the bridge-deck idea from Swan as it is a common feature on Swan cruising yachts and something their owners like to have. It certainly makes the vessel more versatile than the centre cockpit versions. Westerly made 300 of the Discus (more than the Westerly 33 ketch that it superseded) and many of these boats can be found in the Med or cruising further afield. The Discus holds the record for the fibreglass yacht sailed furthest above the Arctic Circle (Bob Shepton on Dodo's Delight), another testament to the strength of the hull and its sea-keeping qualities."
