Boatshed Wales broker Alan Coy has teamed up with Fishguard sailor Jackie Williamson, yachting cartoonist Claudia Myatt and a crew of landlubber friends to launch their latest books. The event will take place in the Royal Oak, Fishguard on Thursday, April 23 2009.

Activities will include short readings and visitors will have the opportunity not only to buy signed copies of all the writers’ books but also to meet and chat with the authors. Doors open at 10am, admission is free and the event is open to all.

The three yachties, Alan, Jackie and Claudia, belong to the Acorns Writers’ Group in Fishguard and each has a long-standing connection with Boatshed.

Alan has been a broker with Mike De Graaf in the Pembrokeshire office for the past eight years. Jackie and her husband Mike bought their Westerly Tempest from Boatshed Falmouth three years ago and Claudia Myatt, yachting cartoonist and author, is a regular at Southampton boat show Fizz at Five – after all, it’s thirsty work doing book signing sessions alongside such luminaries as Tom Cunliffe and the quadraplegic sailor and writer Geoff Holt.

The books:

Alan Boatshed WalesFruit and Thorns, an illustrated collection of poetry.

Jackie – Memory Seeds, an illustrated collection of poetry and nonsense verse and Cevamp, Mike and Me, true tales of romance and adventure at sea.

Claudia – RYA Go Sailing, a series of popular instruction books for youngsters, along with Log Book for Children and Buttercup’s Diary. At the Fishguard event you’ll also be able to buy the latest sailing cartoon cards.

The writers say they are looking forward to buoyant sales and are hoping their books don’t sink without trace!
