Easiest access is via the swimstep which has been remanufactured and covered with SeaDek.
Enter the cockpit via the transom door, a large lazarette/commissary hatch allows easy access to storage below. Molded steps to either side lead to wide side decks protected by sturdy stainless steel railings. The dinghy sits on a stainless cradle; an electric davit crane deploys the dinghy from the bow position. A ladder leads to the enclosed fly bridge. An L-settee with newer upholstery is to port, three side-by-side captains' chairs allow comfortable viewing while underway.
Beautiful teak sliding doors give access to the salon. To port is an L-settee which converts to a double berth, and glass table. Starboard is a comfortable reclining chair with ottoman. The entertainment center includes a new wine cooler with the TV sitting on top of the counter. Forward is the lower helm station. All of the electronics are operable with some being dated. Below the helm seat is one of the Norcold refrigerator/freezers.
The galley is to port of the lower helm and slightly elevated but open to the salon. The previous owners replaced the original countertops with an attractive corian. The galley includes an electric stove top, a second Norcold refrigerator/freezer, microwave, storage and dish lockers. Opening screened windows allow great ventilation and abundant light throughout. All windows in the salon area and forward have privacy screens.
A companionway leads to the staterooms: the guest stateroom with side-by-side bunks and storage cabinets is to port, the head with separate shower is starboard, the main stateroom is forward. The main cabin has a queen pedestal bed, a large hanging locker and ample storage.
The interior is beautifully appointed, the carpet was new when the current owners purchased and has remained covered with plastic to maintain its condition. The interior teak appears to be in good condition.
There are access hatches to the engine compartment through the salon sole or via a small hatch door underneath the companionway stairs. The first compartment houses the 1.8 cu. ft freezer and separated from the engine compartment with another locking hatch door.

VIRTUAL TOUR - VIDEO - 80 TO 100 PHOTOS - FULL SPECS CAN BE VIEWED OF THIS OCEAN ALEXANDER 42 SEDAN!
One of Alexander’s most popular models, the 42 Sedan has a great layout. Plenty of room to accommodate guests and entertaining: a very large cockpit, beautiful sliding doors and level entry to the salon. The galley is elevated slightly so the chef is still included in all conversations. On this model, the dinghy is stowed on the bow so steering from the lower helm would be best done once clearly underway and away from immediate hazards. Stepping down the guest with side-by-side twin bunks is to port, the master is forward and head to starboard. Very easy access to all accommodations and 360 visibility from the helm station. Additional features include a transom door and swim platform (recently remanufactured), and a large flybridge area with side-by-side seating and large l-settee. This boat has been very well maintained and is a beauty inside and out!
