Comentario del broker
Its hard to know where to start with this beautifully built hand crafted Maurice Griffiths Tideway 30. Her owner is a skilled craftsman who built the boat to the standard Maurice Griffiths plans with the help and regular inspection of Rhys Warren Thomas (renowned and respected professional wooden boat builder)
Her keel was laid in 1991 and she was built of solid Iroko and Oak throughout. Rhys was called in at every stage to verify and sign off the construction stages of this amazing and high quality vessel. A very detailed picture book details the whole process and construction from first plank to first sail.
Make no mistake this is a very solid and high quality cruising yacht that was built for extended cruising. She exudes quality craftsmanship throughout and is fully equipped to go long distance travelling.
She has a valid Boat Safety Certificate to 2022, is dry and tight and her woodwork looks stunning and appears to be in excellent condition.
She has been used this last year (de rigged) as a broads cruiser only, using her Lister Alpha diesel engine. However she can go sailing once re rigged.
She has numerous unique and innovative features as only a bespoke hand built craft can, and this gives her some great features and a very unique set of capabilities.
From her coal burning stove to her pull-out additional saloon seating, sectional saloon table and gravity fed coal scuttle (I jest you not). She benefits from additional back boiler water heating from the coal burner when in use in addition to her conventional calorifier water heating set up, the list goes on and gives her great character. She can sleep 4 and has all the facilities you would expect. The compact and fully functional galley leads into the comfortable and cosy saloon and then via a companionway forward past the heads to the fore cabin. Diesel warm air heating is also fitted to the cabin. The boat is a fine example of her type and a testament to boat builder’s art that would be hard to match anywhere. Her deck and collapsible / removable wheelhouse are strewn with beautiful classic woodwork, vents, davits and skylights that echo the golden age of sailing boats and she must be seen to be appreciated.
Currently de-rigged her mast, rigging and spars are all present and she can be rigged in just over half a day. She is a gaff rig design with twin headsails and is classed by us as a bilge keel although in reality she has a slim line heavy centre keel too. If you recognise quality craftsmanship and want a stand out vessel that will turn every head and take you almost anywhere, then this boat is a rare opportunity to obtain such a vessel. Please note that at the time of photographing the owner still has a lot of personal items aboard as the boat is still being used. These will be removed.
Viewing of this incredible vessel is highly recommended to fully appreciate al that she has to offer the serious sailor.
