She is a double spreader sloop with a cutter option. There is an inner forestay and this is used for hoisting a working jib or storm jib, when conditions dictate. The jib sheets are run back to a cockpit winch. The original design was modified when built to provide single point shroud mountings and a baby stay, rather than a three point shroud arrangement. The main has a conventional hoisting slide system with a mast gate to allow the hoisting of a tri-sail. The genoa is on a Harken furling system (new 1996). The mast mounts two halyard winches, four jammers and a slab-reefing winch. There are two genoa halyards, a spinnaker halyard, an inner foresail halyard, and a booming-out pole hoist. The booming-out pole is telescopic, and is stored with the inner end mounted on the mast track, and the outer end clipped to a deck securing point, to facilitate rapid deployment.
SAILS
She has two sets of main plus 120% genoa, the original set, which are now kept as a spare, and a set purchased new in 1995. The newer set were taken off the boat for ten years (2002 to 2012), when they were put back on, as they are still in pretty good condition. The spare (original) set are perfectly workable, but old. The working jib, which has seen very little use, has a single slab reef, and it balances the main well when double reefed. If there are three reefs down on the main, then the reef should also taken in on the foresail to balance the boat. The cruising chute is also little used, and is stowed in its snuffer in the deck box behind the cockpit. There are snatch blocks at the aft end of the toe-rail to get the best lead for the chute sheets. All sails are by Neil Pryde.
The storm jib and tri-sail have not been used for twenty five years, and are pretty much as new.

Short keel version
The Construction of the Hull and deck on the McIntosh are significant in that they are both hand laid, with a 3/4" airex core for the hull and 3/4" balsa core for the deck. This gives strength and weight advantages over solid GRP.

Comentario del broker
The McIntosh 47 was designed to make the best possible use of any space and this yacht was custom built to go even further. She is a cross between the owners model and the charter model, the owners’ accommodation is aft and there are a 2 further guest cabins to give a total of 8 berths.
The owners stateroom has the unusual characteristic of a retractable full size bed allowing it to be converted into a private sitting room which could also function as a TV lounge.
The current owners have kept her well maintained to be ready to sail and she is perfectly situated for cruising the Med.
This McIntosh 47 is now offered at a very attractive price and comes with a full inventory and the space to make her a great liveaboard yacht.
