This vessel was originally launched in 1985. In 2000 it was completely refitted with new mechanical, electrical, interior, and rigging. All systems were upgraded or replaced at a cost of $400,000. This is essentially a 2000 vintage boat. Steel welded plate with hard chines below the waterline. Fin keel with internal ballast of steel boiler punch material. Skeg-hung steel spade rudder. Per survey in 2010 all steel plate was found to be in excellent condition both inside and out. The entire vessel is free of corrosion and all surfaces are well coated with marine primers and topcoats. This is a pilothouse sloop designed for coastal and offshore cruising.

The original interior of this vessel was completely removed in 1999. An efficient and modern design, bright and tastefully done with attention to the needs of a cruising couple was developed, built and installed during 1999-2000. It is spotlessly clean. The forward V-berth was removed in favor of space dedicated to gear, line and equipment storage. A well-equipped galley with refrigeration, stove, corian-type counter tops and storage is to aft and starboard, and a long built-in desk convertible to a single berth is directly across on port. The inside helm is far to port in the salon pilothouse area with nav station and electrical panel aft to port and a large settee with table to starboard. The single head is aft to port and the large master cabin rests primarily under the cockpit on the starboard side. Spaces are all very well lit thought out, and are functional and impeccable clean. This is all heated with a Wallas diesel-fired forced air furnace. All lockers and cabinets have hardwood framed doors with stainless mesh inserts for ventilation.

Comentario del broker
This Amazon 39 Pilothouse Steel Sloop is a remarkable boat. Welded up in 1985 it made one trip to Hawaii then became a liveaboard in Point Roberts, WA. The current owner bought her in 2000 and had shipbuilding professionals in Port Townsend design and build an entirely new interior. All mechanical and electrical systems were upgraded or replaced. The exterior was upgraded, repainted, with new rigging, new sails and everything else in sight to the tune of over $400,000. Offered today at a fraction of the investment this is a true world cruiser and she is spotlessly clean. There is no deferred maintenance to be found on this boat. The current owners (an experienced cruising couple) chose this steel boat for very specific reasons. The wife writes: “buying a steel boat was my requirement as I was convinced that there were too many hazards, i.e., whales, shipping containers, logs, etc. for me to feel safe in a fiberglass boat. It was a challenge to find a steel boat as most look homemade and are not very appealing. We removed the original entire interior down to the metal hull and had the interior redesigned and rebuilt by Port Townsend craftsmen. Along with the extensive exterior upgrades it took over a year to complete. At great expense we ended up with a one-of-a-kind, strong, comfortable cruiser that can handle anything. My favorite feature is the brightness of the interior. The interior of most sailboats can feel like a cave, but not ours. I do most of the driving when we are out, and all of the docking. After standing out in the elements in our old boat in Alaska it is a real treat to be able to be inside and stay warm and dry in the pilothouse on our Amazon. I might add that we are meticulous owners and this sailboat has received only the best maintenance over the years we have owned it.”
