Broker's Comments

This example is in pretty good condition for her age and in the Surveyors 2017 report he concluded "She was found to be in generally serviceable order and at nearly 30 years old, in the surveyor’s opinion, fairly typical condition with wear and deterioration similar to sister ships for her age."

A surprisingly big-feeling 25-footer, with a double berth aft cabin tucked in under the cockpit, and an light, open, saloon, the MG Spring 25 is a popular small family cruiser. Her wing keel and twin rudders give her shallow draught and excellent performance. She has six berths in total, although like any yacht of this size would be fairly crowded with six actually aboard.
MG Yachts started life as primarily a builder of racing boats, but sold a number of fairly high performance cruiser-racers through the 1980s, mostly designed by Tony Castro.
Tony Castro designed "Spring Of Tarrant", the prototype of the wing-keeled, twin-rudder Spring 25 in 1987/88, and the boat was used in the UK TV series "Howards Way". The Spring 25 then went into production in the UK, Brazil and Australia, the UK boats being marketed by MG Yachts. About 150 were built in the UK.

They are, like all Castro designs, fast boats, and have a lot going for them as a small family cruiser, particularly for those moving up from dinghy sailing, who might find more traditional small cruisers sluggish. 'Yachting Monthly' has describe the performance as "sparkling". More details from owners are here on a http://mgspring25.webs.com/
