Broker's Comments

As you board the Southerly 110, Northshore’s quality of build is entirely obvious. Layout is fantastic, good all round views, a spacious saloon, open galley, raised chart table and large aft cabin are particular features on this yacht , and she is now becoming long appreciated on the other side of the Atlantic. This particular boat appears to be very well looked after. Anti-fouled November 2016. December 2016 new binnacle cover, sail cover and spray hood.

On the technical side the unique swing keel provides deep draft performance (deeper than most yachts). At the 'touch of a button' the keel can be raised for shallow draft freedom allowing you to sail in coastal areas and inland waters.

The tall fractional rig and self tacking jib is a popular option Southerly say this provides better performance. The self tacking jib means you can tack spontaneously, without effort, allowing you to sail in conditions that a conventional sail plan may not allow.

The S110 is often compared with the S32 and the owner tells me he also did just that ahead of buying his S110 and in his opinion On S110 tall rig option is also essential, otherwise the weight of the S110 we feel can make the boat slow in F2-3. She comes alive F4-5, and has felt very secure on the few occasions we've been in stronger winds. Self-tacking jib makes upwind sailing easy but it is not so good downwind. We broad reach or use the asymmetric in lighter winds. Both are easy to sail single-handed.
Both S32 and S110 are dual- rudders and are poor manoeuvring astern, so bow thruster essential.
