Broker's Comments

The Malin hails from the golden age of British yacht building, and Macwester were a firm with a reputation capable of giving her contemporary rivals a good run for their money. This 32' centre-cockpit vessel has a lot going for it: solid build; sea-kindliness and a cockpit and interior set-up that works well at sea and in port. This example could use a bit of work to bring her up to speed: she could use a better mainsail for example; the existing one is pretty tired. Internally, the cabin sole needs replacing, but a sheet of marine ply, suitably cut and finished, should do the job. The engine ran sweetly when I visited to photograph her. Electronics are sketchy, although there is a Lowrance multi-function display for radar and chart plotting. With a little work, she's a useful cruiser. Additionally or alternatively, with her spacious separate aft cabin and bilge keels, she might be just the thing to form the basis for a modest live-aboard in an inexpensive mud berth, such as the one she currently occupies.
